“AGENDER”

Selfridges has announced that as of March 12th they will be making “gender neutral” spaces across 3 of their floors, closing the gap between menswear and womenswear.

They will launch 5 new unisex collections comprising of 40 brands already within store.

Some of these brands include collections from Astrid Anderson, Meadhma Kirchof, Underground shoes, Yojhi Yamamoto and Rad Hourani.

“The space, designed by Faye Toogood will also launch an exclusive ready to wear collection as part of the initiative.” (Drapers)

“a fashion exploration of the masculine, the feminine and the interplay…found in between,” Selfridges

As part of the project, Selfridges will do away with male and female mannequins in its windows, with the store instead dressing the windows with fashion in a non gender-specific way. Photography, film, music and design pieces exploring the idea of gender will be on display in the stores and on Selfridges’ Web site.”

This is an amazing idea, and a great platform to launch it on – Selfridges is such a well known store throughout the world, so it’s really cool to see them doing something so different!

Myself and Kitty are all about unisex dressing, pushing boundaries and being comfortable, so we will definitely be checking this out when it launches!

The project will run through to April.
