Boardmasters Festival with Relentless

Kitty and I were lucky enough to go to Boardmasters festival this weekend thanks to Relentless. Not only was it our first time going to the festival, it was our first time going to a festival together!!

This was such a nice change for me, because the festivals i’m used to are all based around music. What made this one so different is that in the day time there are BMX, surf, and skate competitions down by the beach, which makes you feel like you’re on holiday as well as being at a festival.

Boardmasters festival is in Newquay in Cornwall, which is such a beautiful location and luckily the weather held out for the most part! The main part of the festival – where all the music is, is based at Watergate bay – with a lot of the stages looking out on to the sea.

The day time competitions, and generally where most people came to hang out, was at Fistral bay, which is the other end of Newquay.

We watched Faithless, and Roni Size Reprazents. Kicking off at sunset, which set the mood for the evening, was my favourite of the day, Floating Points. He played an amazing disco/soul set at the Corona Stage.

3 Network had a secret stage planned, which we managed to worm our way into. It was so much fun because to get to it we had to walk through a purple fluffy portaloo – it felt like something from Alice in Wonderland! DJ Alice Says played an amazing set. She layed down samba and afro beats, which went nicely with the tropical vibes decor in the ‘secret rave’.

On both mornings we went to Cereal Killers, and tried two amazing chocolate flavours. My favourite was the one with Reeses Pieces. It was nice to chat with one of the founders of Cereal Killers, such nice people and amazing food!

We had such a good time! We ate lots of nice food and had some nice cocktails too. I’d definitely go again. Being by the beach is what set it apart from many other festivals I’ve been to, and there was such a good vibe throughout.

Big thanks to Monki for keeping us warm and stylish all weekend.

Massive shouts to Relentless and Radiator PR for the opportunity to spend the weekend in Cornwall, listening to good music, taking snaps and having fun!
