NYFW: Lacoste SS16
Lacoste have been given the chance to dress the French Parade at the Olympics for the second time and this time it will be at Rio de Janeiro in August 2016. For this seasons catwalk they have taken inspirations from their Olympics theme to run across their men’s and women’s SS16 collection.
Since 2010 Felipe Oliviera Baptista has been reinventing the Lacoste aesthetic every season as artistic director. Using the Lacoste archives alongside research into the Olympic aesthetic from the 30′s this season sees another inspiration match of sports styles and urban design.
Bold modern prints are seen alongside daring silhouettes and vintage colour themes are met with vintage, futuristic styling. Metallics meet all over prints and layering meets cut out, body fitting silhouettes. As if you are looking at a ‘futuristic’ theme from the 70′s but with a contemporary twist. The casting is also spot on with every fresh face you have been watching over the last year, helping tie it all together.
